Sheaves are used to allow a line or wire to make a directional change of up to 180 degrees, without chafe and with a minimum of friction. Sheaves turn on Sheave Axles, and may have Bushings installed in them to reduce working friction, or to reduce their Inside Diameter (ID). Sheaves are listed here by Outside (Maximum) Diameter (OD), then thickness (Width), and Inside Diameter in ascending order.
Rig-Rite stocks a large variety of Sheaves originally produced by many different Spar Builders and other Marine manufacturers. The most common Imperial dimension Sheaves are listed below, but many ‘specials’ have been produced over time. Please note that if a Sheave listed here meets your principal dimensions of Outside Diameter (OD) & Width, it is frequently possible to modify the Inside Diameter (ID) by either drilling it out to a larger size, or bushing it down to a smaller one.
If you do not have Sheave Dimensions, please note that many common Replacement Sheaves are also listed by Manufacturer, underneath the component that they are part of. Various Sheaves for specific applications are listed under Traveller Systems (See Traveller Systems Main Page), and under Spars produced by a variety of manufacturers, See Spars Main Page. If a Sheave you require is not listed there, measure it, and consult the list below.
If you require a Sheave not listed here, please contact us specifying dimensions (OD, width, and ID), material (aluminum, plastic, etc.), and application. If unavailable otherwise, we produce many Custom Sheaves and can quote them on a Custom basis.
In addition to the items listed here Rig-Rite stocks a large variety of Military Specification (MS, AN, and NAS) Sheaves and Pulleys, please contact us with Spec. numbers.
Metric Sheaves are not listed below. For Metric Replacement Sheaves for Spar (and other) Applications, See Isomat/Sparcraft Sheaves, Francespar Sheaves, or Z-Spar Sheaves, depending on the origin of your Spars or Hardware.
Wide Sheaves for use with Genoa Sheet Cars, Anchor Rollers and other applications are listed separately, See Wide Sheaves.
Bronze Sheaves for Traditional and replacement applications are listed below, but also separately, See Bronze Sheaves.
Kenyon and Nicro-Fico Sheaves are listed below, but also separately, See Kenyon Sheaves and Nicro-Fico Sheaves.
